Dulahazara Safari Park
A large forest safari park on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway where tigers, lions, bears and deer live in open enclosures.
Set in the hill forest of Chakaria about 50 km north of Cox's Bazar, this was the first safari park in Bangladesh, opened in 1999. Paved paths and park vehicles take visitors past large enclosures where tigers, lions, bears, deer and crocodiles live in far more natural surroundings than in a city zoo.
Wild elephants still move through the surrounding forest, and the park has an observation tower, a bird aviary and a small natural-history museum. It is a convenient break on the drive between Chattogram and Cox's Bazar, especially for families travelling with children.
How to go
Any Chattogram-bound bus from Cox's Bazar can drop you at Dulahazara (≈1-1.5 h, 100-150 BDT); the gate is a short walk or rickshaw ride from the highway.
Where to stay
Stay in Cox's Bazar, or in budget hotels in Chakaria town (1,000-2,000 BDT).
