Dharmasagar was dug in the 15th century by Maharaja Dharma Manikya of Tripura to relieve drought and famine, and it remains the landmark of Cumilla town. Covering around 23 acres, the tank is surrounded by tree-shaded paths, a park and the old Rani Kuthi on its northern bank.

In the evenings townspeople stroll the banks, sit at waterside cafes and watch the sunset reflected across the water. It is a pleasant place to rest after visiting the Mainamati ruins, and it is close to the sweet shops of Monohorpur where Cumilla's famous rasmalai is sold.

How to go

It is in central Cumilla, a short rickshaw ride from Kandirpar (≈5-10 min, 30-50 BDT).

Where to stay

Hotels in central Cumilla (1,500-6,000 BDT).

Travel tips: Come in the late afternoon for the sunset and evening atmosphere. Buy rasmalai from the original Matri Bhandar shop rather than roadside imitations.
