Haors, hills and the songs of mystic poets

Sunamganj is the heart of Bangladesh's haor country, where in the monsoon whole landscapes turn into inland seas beneath the hills of Meghalaya. Travellers come for houseboat trips on Tanguar Haor, the blue water of Niladri Lake and the Jadukata river, and the crimson Shimul Bagan in spring. It is also the homeland of mystic poets Hason Raja and Shah Abdul Karim.
