Natore
Rani Bhabani's capital, Chalan Beel and the famous kanchagolla
Natore was once the seat of one of Bengal's richest zamindari estates, and two grand palace compounds still survive close to town. To the east lies the vast Chalan Beel wetland, which floods into an inland sea in the monsoon. The district is also remembered through Jibanananda Das's poem about Banalata Sen of Natore.
