Naogaon is the rice bowl of the Barind tract and holds some of the most important archaeological sites in South Asia, led by the UNESCO-listed Buddhist monastery at Paharpur. Beyond the ruins you will find Sultanate mosques, an ancient victory pillar standing in a pond, a forest park on the border and the estate office where Rabindranath Tagore once collected rents.
