Singra National Park
A quiet patch of sal forest in Birganj, one of the few surviving woodlands of the northern plains.
Singra National Park protects a block of tropical sal forest in Birganj upazila, north of Dinajpur. It was declared a national park in 2010 to save what remains of the deciduous woodland that once covered much of the region. The trees are mostly sal, with patches of planted species along the edges.
There are no big attractions here, and that is the point. Footpaths lead under the canopy, the dry leaves crunch underfoot in late winter, and birdwatchers can spot woodpeckers, drongos and other forest birds in the early morning. It makes a peaceful half-day add-on to a Kantajew Temple trip.
How to go
Take a bus from Dinajpur to Birganj (≈40 km, 1 h, 60-80 BDT), then an auto-rickshaw about 9 km west to the park gate (20 min, 100-200 BDT reserved).
Where to stay
Stay in Dinajpur town (1,000-5,000 BDT); Birganj has only basic lodging.
