Shuvo Sondha Sea Beach

A quiet tamarisk-lined beach in Taltali where three rivers meet the sea, famous for its sunsets.

Shuvo Sondha Sea Beach

Shuvo Sondha, meaning 'good evening', is a beach of about 4.5 km at Nishanbaria in Taltali upazila, facing the point where the Payra, Bishkhali and Baleshwar rivers flow into the Bay of Bengal. True to its name, it is loved for its golden sunsets.

A belt of tamarisk trees planted by the forest department shades the back of the beach, and the shore is usually almost empty apart from fishermen and a few local visitors. Red crabs, migratory birds in winter and the view of Fatrar forest across the water add to its charm. Nearby Rakhine villages in Taltali, with their Buddhist temples and handloom weaving, make a good addition to the trip.

How to go

From Barguna town take a bus or CNG to Taltali (≈1-1.5 h, 60-120 BDT), then an auto or motorbike to the beach (≈20-30 min, 100-200 BDT).
