Sajek Valley sits on a long ridge in Baghaichhari upazila of Rangamati, close to the Mizoram border at roughly 1,800 feet. Although it belongs to Rangamati, it is reached by road from Khagrachhari via Dighinala, a dramatic journey of steep climbs on open-top jeeps.

The main village, Ruilui Para, has grown into a line of colourful cottages, cafes and viewpoints, while Lushai and Tripura families still live in the surrounding hamlets. Mornings bring the famous sea of clouds filling the valleys below, and a short trek leads to Konglak Para, the highest point nearby. Weekdays are far less crowded than weekends.

How to go

From Khagrachhari town hire a jeep (chander gari) to Sajek (≈3 h; 8,000-12,000 BDT per vehicle for a two-day round trip, shared by up to 12). Vehicles travel in army-escorted convoys from Baghaihat at fixed times.

Where to stay

Cottages and resorts at Ruilui and Konglak Para (2,000-12,000 BDT), including the army-run Runmoy and Sajek Resort; book ahead for weekends.

Travel tips: Stick to the escort schedule — missing the convoy can mean waiting for hours. Electricity and water are limited, so carry a power bank and use water sparingly.
