Hum Hum is a remote waterfall in the Rajkandi reserve forest of Kamalganj upazila, close to the Tripura border. Little known until around 2010, when a group of trekkers brought it to wider attention, it drops roughly 45 metres in a long veil of water, and locals say the booming sound it makes gave the fall its name.

No road reaches it. From Kolabon Para, a small Tripura village, the trail climbs slippery hill paths and then follows a rocky stream for two to three hours each way, through bamboo thickets and wild banana. It is a proper adventure rather than a casual outing, but the reward is a waterfall surrounded by largely untouched forest.

How to go

From Sreemangal hire a CNG or jeep to Kolabon Para via Kamalganj (≈1.5 h; 1,500-2,500 BDT round trip). From there trek 2-3 hours each way with a local guide (500-1,000 BDT).

Where to stay

Base yourself in Sreemangal, where hotels and resorts range from 1,000 to 15,000 BDT or more.

Travel tips: Start by 8 a.m. so you are out of the forest before dark, and wear grippy sandals; a bamboo stick helps. Avoid the trek right after heavy rain, when streams rise quickly.
