Hajiganj Boro Masjid, in the market town of Hajiganj about 20 km east of Chandpur, is one of the largest and most celebrated mosques in Bangladesh. It grew from a small prayer house founded by Haji Ahmad Ali Patwari in the early 20th century into a vast complex, with a tall minaret visible from far across the surrounding fields.

Inside, the prayer hall is decorated with fine tile and mirror work, chandeliers and calligraphy, and it can hold thousands of worshippers. On Fridays, and especially on Jumatul Bida, the last Friday of Ramadan, huge congregations gather here from across the region.
