This compact brick mosque in Khan Bari, Ghagra Lashkar village, north of Sherpur town, is one of the oldest buildings in the district. A stone inscription at the doorway dates its construction to 1028 AH, around 1619 CE, placing it in the early Mughal period when this frontier region was being drawn into the empire.

The mosque is still in use, and its thick walls, small proportions and simple ornamentation give it a quiet, timeless character. It is a short detour on the road toward Jhenaigati and Gajni, making it easy to combine a little history with a day in the Garo foothills.

How to go

From Sherpur town take a CNG or auto-rickshaw toward Jhenaigati and turn off for Ghagra Lashkar (≈30 min; 300-500 BDT round trip), or stop on the way to Gajni.

Where to stay

Stay in Sherpur town (1,000-3,000 BDT).

Travel tips: It is an active mosque: dress modestly, remove shoes and avoid prayer times. Ask locals for directions, as signposting is poor.
