Daulatdia, in Goalanda upazila, has been one of the busiest river crossings in Bangladesh for generations, linking Dhaka with the south-west via ferries to Paturia. Just upstream, the mighty Jamuna pours into the Padma, creating a vast expanse of water and shifting sandbanks.

Standing on the ferry deck or hiring a small boat here gives a real sense of the scale of Bengal's great rivers. Riverside eateries serve hilsa and other fish straight from the boats, especially in the monsoon season. The ghat itself is noisy and crowded with trucks and buses, so this is a place for river lovers rather than those seeking calm.

How to go

From Rajbari town take a bus or CNG east via Goalanda to Daulatdia (about 30-40 min, 40-100 BDT). A return ferry ride towards Paturia costs around 30-50 BDT per passenger.

Where to stay

Stay in Rajbari town (1,000-3,000 BDT); there is no tourist accommodation at the ghat.

Travel tips: The ghat area is crowded, so keep valuables secure and stay with your group; agree on boat fares in advance and wear life jackets.
